Over eating & Weight Gain in Peri Menopause


Terri* was 43 when she came to see me, her main issues were Hormone Imbalance and over eating! She had gained weight, her skin was dull, her hair limp and her joints were achey.

She worked in the city looking after children, where the house was full of chocolate, crisps and cake! (My worst nightmare!)

She had a history of heavy painful periods, fibroids and infertility – after a relationship break-up she was feeling low and fed up with very low energy. She knew eating crap was making her feel worse, but she was bored and didn’t have the willpower to change things.

Terri* didn’t cook, she lived on microwave meals and Coffee to keep her energy going. She was going to have to make some serious lifestyle changes if she wanted to feel good and balance those hormones, and I was going to have my work cut out helping her!

We worked together on a 3 month Hormone Balancing coaching program with regular calls to keep her motivated and to change things where necessary. Terri* followed an eating plan, I provided her with a recipe book and she did a 10 day herbal cleanse alongside eating a healthy diet for those 10 days. We also added in nutritional supplements tailored to her needs every month and natural homeopathic remedies to help with her emotions and to balance her periods.

After the first month, she felt brighter and clearer. She had started to make simple changes in her life, such as getting off the tube early and walking a few miles each day and enjoying walks in the country side on her days off.

When Terri* came to visit me on her 2nd visit I offered her a tea or coffee, to which she replied “I am not a coffee drinker anymore”. This was a lady who lived on coffee! She had given up coffee, chocolate and crisps, she was cooking and making healthier food choices whilst out or travelling.
