Heart Palpitations a symptom of Peri Menopause

Palpitations in perimenopause can be one of the uncommon but scary symptoms of the menopause!

Women can experience them in different ways, sometimes a racing or irregular heartbeat or a fluttering feeling, other times it may feel like their heart is bursting out of their chest.  Like with most symptoms they tend to come and go as you go through the transition.  Occasionally they can come with panic attacks or with hot flashes, a feeling of nausea or lightheaded

RISKS For most women these are harmless, however, cardiovascular disease is a condition that can affect post menopause age women, and Palpitations could be a sign of an underlying condition - If you find they are frequent, come with chest pain, shortness of breathe, sickness, faithness or dizziness make sure you go to your doctor or Health Care provider.  Keep a note of your palpitations and blood pressure to take to your Health Practitioner.

What causes Heart Palpitations?

  • Electrolyte imbalance, low sodium and potassium
  • Low Iron levels
  • Thyroid issues
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Herbal remedies or supplements
  • Medication side effects
  • Diet, caffeine, alcohol
  • Blood sugar issues, not eating regular
  • Overweight
  • High impact Exercise
