Boost your Libido during Peri Menopause

libido

Has your libido changed since you entered your 40's or the peri menopause years?

As you hit the peri-menopausal phase you might notice your sex drive going through the roof, whilst some of you may find your sex drive has got up and gone!

During these years your testosterone and oestrogen levels decrease, making it harder to get aroused for some. On top of that adrenal fatigue can have a negative effect on your sex drive. This means some of you may lose your desire for sex, or the decrease in oestrogen can lead to vaginal dryness and painful sex. Or you may have put on a little weight and no longer feel sexy!

Other symptoms like mood swings, depression and irritability can turn you right off sex!

I’ve been reading a study of Latino and Caucasian post-menopausal women. One study showed Caucasians who had more frequent sexual activity were less likely to report of depressive symptoms.

Having Sex releases endorphins in the brain decreasing stress, it can also help increase oestrogen levels. Plus it releases the hormone oxytocin, a natural pain killer so it’s great for headaches and migraines and period pain.

What can I do to bring back my Libido?

If your libido has vanished, you can start by balancing your adrenal glands (eat well, relax, exercise) With healthy adrenal glands you’ll have more energy, and may have a higher sex drive and stronger orgasms helping you to sleep and be less stressed.

Other things to improve your sex drive

  • Homeopathic remedies
  • Aromatherapy oils
  • Lubricants
  • Exercise
  • Kegal or pelvic floor exercises
  • Medication
  • Marital counselling

Add these foods into your diet too….

Pomegranate contain large amounts of phytoestrogens, which could help reduce of your symptoms! Its a superfood full of anti-oxidants that helps fight against heart disease (so important post menopause as it’s the biggest killer in women)

Plus as we’ve been talking about SEX a glass of pomegranate juice daily for 2 weeks in a study showed a notable surge in testosterone, which increases libido in both men and women!

  • Figs
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Avocado
  • Maca
  • Cacao
  • Watermelon
  • Nutmeg
  • ginger!
